If you try to aim by resting the barrel, it'll angle upwards and misdirect your shot. So unless it's a better option than your fists, you wouldn't want the barrel to be involved in any bludgeoning.

As far as cursed guns go - each weapon has slots for different attachments, and those attachments have slots for other attachment (eg handguards have rails). Pick a gun, start buying attachments to put on it, and have fun. There are a couple of mods that will allow you to put any attachment into any slot. Would recommend for a good time.
